My grandma is 93 and still pretty fit and curious for her age, but she has about as much to do with what I do as a vacuum cleaner has to do with a daisy…
My first impulse was to reply somewhat flippantly “๐จ๐ฆ๐ด๐ค๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ช๐ต ๐ฅ๐ข๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ณ ๐ณ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฅ๐ฆ๐ฏ”. However, I realized that fortunately that is exactly what I am NOT doing.
So after a moment’s thought, I said
From my point of view, that’s exactly the trick: ๐บ๐ฎ๐ป ๐บ๐๐๐ ๐ ๐ฒ๐ป๐๐ฐ๐ต๐ฒ๐ป ๐ฑ๐ผ๐ฟ๐ ๐ฎ๐ฏ๐ต๐ผ๐น๐ฒ๐ป, ๐๐ผ ๐๐ถ๐ฒ ๐๐๐ฒ๐ต๐ฒ๐ป (like a “๐๐ฃ๐ฆ๐ณ ๐ง๐ถฬ๐ณ ๐๐ฐ๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ถ๐ฏ๐ช๐ฌ๐ข๐ต๐ช๐ฐ๐ฏ”)… And don’t make yourself important with technical terms to show what you’ve got. This applies to companies just as much as it does to students.
After all, how is a CEO or CIO supposed to get to grips with AI terms such as RAG, LLM, GPT, MongoDB, Python, AIaaS, REST API, HuggingFace, ML, …?
At the end of such a discussion, there are more questions than answers – and as a CxO, you often don’t dare to admit that you have understood far too little. And decisions are then made on this basis? Well bravo…
That is why it is important that court opinions are written so that judges understand them, specifications so that developers understand them, processes so that business students understand them, textbooks so that students understand them, instructions so that users understand them and management decisions are prepared so that managers understand them! … and can sleep peacefully afterwards.
Of course, you have to go into depth from time to time and understand and discuss in detail what is meant by the terms. But always in such a way that you don’t “lose” anyone.

P.S.: I can of course also play buzzword bingo. But honestly: who wants to do that…
