Ö.b.u.v.SV.

The typical German abbreviation “𝗼̈.𝗯.𝘂.𝘃. 𝗦𝗩.” stands for “𝗼̈𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗵 𝗯𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘂𝗻𝗱 (partly even in court) 𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗴𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝗮𝗰𝗵𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝘁𝗮̈𝗻𝗱𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗿”. And there’s a whole lot behind it…!

In Germany, unfortunately, anyone can call themselves an expert – without an examination, without protection of the professional title, without anything. I can call myself 𝘚𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘵𝘢̈𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘨𝘦𝘯 𝘧𝘶̈𝘳’𝘴 𝘉𝘳𝘰̈𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘬𝘢𝘶𝘧𝘦𝘯, print a business card, everything is fine.

Then there are a number of reputable (and unfortunately many more dubious) 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗯𝗮̈𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻 associations that provide experts with a kind of pseudo-organization. I myself am also a member of one or two associations, but that says nothing about my 𝘘𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘬𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘻𝘶𝘮 𝘉𝘳𝘰̈𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘬𝘢𝘶𝘧𝘦𝘯…

𝗭𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝘇𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗻 are better because at least the “expert” carries out an inspection. However, it is always important to take a close look at who issues the certification and who͟e͟l͟c͟h͟e͟s͟ ͟I͟n͟t͟e͟r͟e͟s͟s͟e͟ is using it. This is because there are also charlatans who use pseudo-certifications to take money out of the pockets of future “experts”.

𝗗𝗮𝘀 𝗲𝗶𝗻𝘇𝗶𝗴𝗲 𝗲𝗰𝗵𝘁𝗲 𝗚𝘂̈𝘁𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗹 𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗱𝗶𝗲 “𝗼̈𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗴𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗵𝘁𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗲 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗴𝘂𝗻𝗴”. In a complex process involving several examinations at different levels and a public swearing-in, it is ensured that experts who are then also used in court proceedings meet the highest professional, legal and personal standards. After all, when in doubt, a lot / a lot of money is at stake.

I am also aiming for this public appointment and court swearing-in (but 𝘯𝘪𝘤𝘩𝘵 𝘧𝘶̈𝘳’𝘴 𝘉𝘳𝘰̈𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘬𝘢𝘶𝘧𝘦𝘯, but for IT). For me, that means cramming, cramming, cramming. At Streitz Hoppen & Partner – IT-Sachverständige, I prepare myself in particular for IT law and benefit greatly from the enormous expertise of the partnership (special thanks to Dr. Siegfried Streitz).
The combination of IT law and IT expertise there is almost unique in Germany and I find it extremely exciting to get to know the entire legal framework from my limited perspective as a “software fuzzi”, which must be taken into account in the event of a dispute and when preparing expert opinions that stand up in court.

𝗗𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘇𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗯𝗶𝘀 𝘇𝘂𝗿 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗴𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗺 𝗜𝗧-𝗨𝗺𝗳𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗱𝗮𝘂𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝘂̈𝗯𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘀 𝗰𝗮. 𝟭-𝟮 𝗝𝗮𝗵𝗿𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗱 𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘁 𝗵𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗔𝗿𝗯𝗲𝗶𝘁.

So if you meet someone in the future who has “ö.b.u.v. SV.” on their business card, this is not a typo, but a real sign of quality!
