I actually wanted to write a post here today about “๐—ž๐—œ-๐——๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ฟ๐˜‚๐—ฝ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ถ๐—บ ๐—ฆ๐—ผ๐—ณ๐˜๐˜„๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ-๐—˜๐—ป๐—ด๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ฒ๐—ฟ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ด”. However, like many others here, I am still under the influence of the events that took place yesterday in the USA. Here, my original topic suddenly feels very small and unimportant and it feels wrong to write anything about it.

However, it feels right not to leave uncommented what is currently happening all over the world: ๐—ฒ๐—ถ๐—ป๐—ฒ๐—ฒ ๐—บ๐—ฎ๐˜€๐˜€๐—ถ๐˜ƒ๐—ฒ ๐——๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ฟ๐˜‚๐—ฝ๐˜๐—ถ๐—ผ๐—ป, i.e. the breaking up of existing structures, profound changes through “innovative” ideas and / or technological progress. And we need to realize that everything is connected to everything else.

– ๐—ž๐—œ is one of the most disruptive technologies ever. We are already noticing this in software engineering, where nothing is the same as before. Developers are no longer being hired or fired, AI “programs” better than 70% of trained computer scientists, and the efficiency gains when working with AI are enormous. Entire industries or their significance will disappear into thin air.

– ๐—œ๐—ป๐—ณ๐—ฟ๐—ฎ๐˜€๐˜๐—ฟ๐˜‚๐—ธ๐˜๐˜‚๐—ฟ is gaining in importance to such an extent that it is almost dizzying. Especially because much of it is in private / US-American hands. Access to the internet (e.g. Starlink), access to computing power (e.g. NVIDIA), access to data (e.g. social media), these are topics in which the private sector has long since overtaken existing (national) borders, economic areas and associations of states.

– ๐—š๐—ฒ๐—ผ๐—ฝ๐—ผ๐—น๐—ถ๐˜๐—ถ๐˜€๐—ฐ๐—ต๐—ฒ ๐—”๐—น๐—น๐—ถ๐—ฎ๐—ป๐˜‡๐—ฒ๐—ป and shared values that once seemed so secure are once again falling victim to the “right of the strongest” or the “fastest”. And all those who (still) think and work within the previous structures cannot keep up with the incredible speed of disruption. Unfortunately, democracy is anything but fast. And issues that we were able to agree on as a society some time ago (such unimportant things as saving our planet, for example) have suddenly disappeared.

These are just three examples of unfortunately very many.

I realize that we have lost our reliable anchor points. We have dynamism and change in all areas and it is difficult to get all of this sorted again and again.

I am personally convinced that the most important anchor point we can create for ourselves, in our company or in our society, is a shared understanding of values:

Watching and waiting will certainly go wrong.
